Wedding Trends 2010!

Ok so doing my research on what's hot this Wedding Season I decided to list ten of my favorite trends or tips!
With links to each of the sites I discovered the tips or trends at so you can read more on each of there articles. I'm also going to the Wedding Fair at the Weston Bayshore tomorrow !

1. Back to Basics

Events will focus on the attention to the details, the foundation of the event, not the drama or grandeur of the evening. Consider spending more on the lasting memories than the showmanship of the event. Spend a bit more than the average budget allotment on photography mediums rather than abundant floral. Or consider a bit of a longer stay on your honeymoon and a little less of a party at the reception and you’ll be grateful for your decision in the end.http://www.getmarried.com/articles/?id=345

2. Wear-again bridesmaid dresses

The urban legend of wearing a bridesmaids dress by choice after the wedding is a reality with the new silhouettes that mirror what is happening on the runway. Gorgeous and glamorous dresses with drop waists, bubble skirts and ruffles add an additional sense of style for bridesmaids to wear—and wear again. http://www.getmarried.com/articles/index.php?id=630

3. Wedding Dresses

Here are a few fabulous dresses we're seeing hit the runways.
1. 50's inspired wedding dresses are hot.
2. Sexy Slinky Silhouettes mermaid or drop waist 3. Ball gowns are back
4.Tea-length wedding dresses
(I love this idea and style!) 5. Wedding gowns with black details 6.Feathers and layers of soft ruffles follow this link to see some of Vera Wangs hot designs

And for veils...Birdcage VeilsThese vintage-look veils combine a jeweled clip or feathered headpiece with netting that only covers the face. In the picture above, Drew Barrymore is wearing a birdcage veil to a recent movie premiere. Wearing one allows you to have some dramatic glamor and feel like a bride, but is a more fun look and less hassling than a long traditional veil. http://www.unveiledbridaldesigns.com/index.html

4. Sweet Treats

While traditional stacked wedding cakes are still going strong for 2010, there’s also a trend in individual servings of other treats.
Here are some out of the box ideas that I found I loved Instead of the typical tiered cupcake alternative we'll be seeing more of treats such as individual cheesecakes, tarts, cream puffs or donuts stacked on the tier. These are easily made at home or purchased from a bakery without the heavy wedding cake price tag. I also have to mention how much I love the look of the recent trend toward candy buffet tables! It's hot right now, and many couples include it along with some kind of wedding cake. A fun and new way to add to the candy buffet concept is to have an ice cream sundae bar and add the candy and various toppings instead of wedding cake. Your guests will enjoy building their own sundaes, and you can still feed one another a spoonful of sundae for a photo op! (I of coarse love this idea!)

6. Eco- Friendly Weddings...Going Organic

In many of the sites I've been researching I find most of them are on the same page with this new smart trend.
Going green is important in almost every area of life including weddings. Many couples are choosing organic fabrics, flowers, food and invitations, etc. In the event of global climate change, making green and sustainable choices helps our environmental crisis tremendously. Decisions that lessen the amount of carbon emissions promote sustainable practices, support local businesses, foster community and worldwide health and longevity. Let's hope this trend is here to stay! http://www.yourweddingcompany.com/index.php/action/createTrends/planId/1/

7.
Trends for the Him

While the wedding fashion for men doesn't change a lot from year-to-year, 2010 will bring about some changes for the groom. Instead of renting a tuxedo for a day, more grooms are wearing a high-quality suit that they will own for a lifetime instead. Popular suit colors for 2010 weddings are deep brown, beige, and tan. Grey is also a popular color for grooms. http://weddingstyle.suite101.com/article.cfm/2010_wedding_fashion_trends

8.
Location, location, location

Couples are getting creative with locations such as art galleries, off beat smaller museums, lodges, and restaurants that specialize in wines and small plates. And many couple are even opting for the at home wedding, making use of farms and backyards! Seeing a smaller guest list then in the past it makes it easier for couples to get creative! http://www.momentsofelegance.com/blog/2009/11/04/2010-wedding-trends/

9. Modern and Unique Favors

Classic summer favors like flip-flops and drink koozies will always satisfy, but why not give back to the planet while you give back to your guests?

What's Hot now? Eco-friendly favors are bigger than ever, particularly if you're taking advantage of natural beauty and marrying outdoors. One idea:
( I loved this because it would be easy to do yourselves and because we live in chilliwack!)
Give guests locally grown herbs planted in recyclable glass jars or tin cans. Dressed up with ribbon or paper in your wedding colors, they're gorgeous and good for the earth. http://lolaeventproductions.squarespace.com/lola-in-the-press/category/the-knot
